General Guidelines

International students must prepare the correct payment, approval letter, Student Pass, and visa documents before beginning their study journey at UPTM.

Offer Letter

Receive your offer letter from UPTM after the application has been successfully evaluated.

Visa Approval Letter

UPTM will apply for the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) on your behalf upon receiving all required documents.

Student Pass

Use the VAL to apply for your Student Pass through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).

Entry Preparation

Prepare for your journey to Malaysia and complete pre-departure requirements.

  • The applicants are required to make payment for the application fee and the Visa Approval Letter processing fee.
  • International Students are required to produce an Approval Letter from the Immigration Department of Malaysia on entering the country and possess a valid Student Pass and/or Student Visa while studying in Malaysia.
  • The International Students Office will assist new International Students in obtaining the Approval Letter and Student Pass and/or Student Visa.
  • The International Students Office will ensure that students fulfil the entry requirements of the University in order to obtain the University acceptance or offer letter.
  • Students must fully understand the terms of payment to the University and the immigration procedures of Malaysia.

Offer Letter Verification

The Offer Letter will be issued upon verification of certified true copies of these documents.

  • Academic Certificate(s)
  • English Proficiency (i.e. TOEFL/IELTS) Certificate
  • Valid Passport (at least 2 years before expiry)
  • Application Form

Student Visa Documents

Once your acceptance to UPTM is confirmed, these documents are required for Student Visa processing.

  • 2 photocopies of UPTM offer letter
  • 4 recent passport-sized photographs with WHITE background
  • 2 photocopies of your passport (at least 2 years before expiry)
  • Certified copies of academic qualifications with certified translated copy in English (if applicable)
  • A certified copy of evidence of English language proficiency (if applicable)
  • Payment

Before Arrival Checklist

Prepare these registration documents carefully before arrival so your UPTM admission and visa process can move smoothly.

Completed UPTM Application Form

Submit the completed UPTM application form as part of your registration documents.

Passport Copy

Provide 1 copy of your passport with all pages in color. Passport must be valid for a minimum of 2 years.

Academic Results & Certificate

Submit academic results and certificate together with the English translated copy.

Passport Size Photographs

Prepare 8 passport size photographs (35mm x 45mm) with white background.

Pre-arrival Medical Examination

Submit the Pre-arrival Medical Examination Report from the student home country.

Registration Timeline

Follow the flow from document submission, offer letter issuance, acceptance forms, and Visa Approval Letter processing.

Required Documents Received

UPTM will review the required documents together with the application fees and visa processing fees.

Offer Letter Issued

Offer letter will be issued to successful applicants upon receiving complete documents and payments.

Acceptance Forms Returned

Students are required to return the completed acceptance forms within the stipulated date.

VAL Processing by EMGS

UPTM will submit the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) application to EMGS. Processing may require 6-8 weeks, and the approved VAL will be sent before students leave their country.

Complete documents and acceptance forms must be submitted within the stipulated date. Visa Approval Letter processing through EMGS may require 6-8 weeks before the approved VAL is sent to students.

Upon obtaining VAL

Complete these final checks once your Visa Approval Letter has been issued.

Settle tuition fees

Pay the first semester tuition fees before your arrival date.

Share arrival details

Inform the International Student Office at least 7 days before arrival.

Check SEV requirement

Confirm whether a Single-Entry Visa is required for your nationality.

Prepare clearance

Keep your VAL, passport, offer letter, and payment proof ready.

Visa approval readiness

Prepare your entry documents with confidence.

  • Check embassy or SEV requirements before booking travel.
  • Send arrival details to ISO at least 7 days before arrival.
